First of all, if you have no clue what's Joomla or have no interest whatsoever to know about it, then maybe this write up isn't intended for you. Feel free to skip whenever you want.
So this is my review for commercial extensions engineered for community building code named: JomSocial. Developed by one of the most famous Joomla's components maker, Azrul network, JomSocial is one of the most anticipated components for the later version of Joomla 1.5.
This review will be specifically focused on the product aspect which left out my other 2 key items when evaluating a component/an extension: Support and Feature Request.
Right out of the box

I bought the Pro version and as we go on I'll mention the difference between Pro and Standard later. Right out the box, JomSocial Pro comes with obviously, 1 component which JS itself, 6 modules, and a handful of 14 applications (I like to call them plugins).

Aug 2th 2008 - It was my first Joomla Day and I am glad to spend my whole day at Cititel Hotel Midvalley, Kuala Lumpur.
I came up a little bit late and the only person I know was Fuqaha. My first impression being there was the crowd were enthusiatic-AND-friendly too. I met almost all components maker/company that powered pembaris.com (jomcomment, myblog and mosets are all 100% Malaysian-made).
Amazingly, my feelings as a stranger in the hall went gone in no time. I never felt very welcomed before and would price it as high-quality worthful experience.
I had my credits for Azrul team and Mosets CY Lee respectively on About Us menu page, but then again I would love to mention my appreciation to Joomla Day organizer, Azrul and the team (Mark,Meriza,Syahzul and the rest; speakers especially CY Lee (mosets developer) and all new friends I met LIVE for the first time (asx, fungkur, and the rest).

This is my first post discussing about Joomla! and be warned that I am no Joomla! expert or guru; in fact I experienced Joomla! just for about couple of months and created this site within 3 weeks of self-taught over forums after discovering Joomla! 1.5 which was just released at the time (and bundling some noob questions to a friend of mine, Fuqaha). I innocently picked J! 1.5 because I know for softwares or drivers, the most latest build would hint the best security updates and features. I never know that it has different frameworks or "spines" for each respective J! 1.0.x and J! 1.5.x. By the time I know J! 1.5 have lesser supports from 3rd-party developers, it's just a little too late for me to downgrade.
I am comparing Joomla! 1.5 native component Myblog with Joomla! 1.5 built-in default blogging system. This is a huge dilemma for me since my blogging space that is built for multiple blogger is not utilized as I imagined it. I was thinking a blog that has various entries from various Malaysians bloggers from all around the world. Sharing all sorts of things; be it tazkirah, road trip, recipes, and more. I never taught of being blogger or wordpress copycat. I would prefer one to blog on Wordpress if that's is all he/she doing the most. This space is more like a featured entry or something like that. Maybe I should do an invite or something
Overview
Myblog is commercial product which means it doesn't come for free (duh!). It offers tons of features that I believe could enhance users experience visiting your site.
Joomla!'s default blog system is come with default Joomla! 1.5 installation. All other plugins can be found on JED.
